2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Sneak Peek
When you see a Ford Mustang driving down the street it is impossible not to stop and stare. When the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is released you won’t be able to peel your eyes away. Car dealership Causeway Lincoln is giving their loyal customers a sneak peek into this coveted vehicle.
With 662 horsepower and a claimed 200-plus mph top speed, the 2013 Ford Mustang will have you questioning the difference between indulgence and restraint. A car like this is known for its numbers. At $54,995 this vehicle turns in a 0 to 60 sprint of 3.5 seconds. The power behind this vehicle can be described in one simple phrase, “This car is big juice.”
Developed by Ford’s SVT division and the creators of the Ford GT and F-150 SVT Raptor, the Ford Mustang is dominated by its engine. The hefty piece of aluminum comes with a 5.8 liter, supercharged V-8 with 631 lb-ft under the hood. The cylinder bore balloons have been stretched to the limit going from 90.2 mm to 93.5 mm. The compression ratio has risen from 8.4:1 to 9.0. This vamped up Ford Mustang has a larger oil pump, piston oil squirters and additional coolant passages, but like other models it still has a plasma-transferred wire-arc bore coating and billet main-bearing caps.
The GT500 comes equipped with the Eaton supercharger in the engine’s valley displacing 2.3 liters, spinning faster and takes more horsepower to operate than is produced by the current Ford Fiesta. While the original development of the 2013 Ford Mustang began with the engine it has gone on to encompass the entire vehicle. To compensate for some of the latest engine adjustments, the GT500 comes with twin fuel pumps, a larger fuel injector, a larger diameter clutch, a larger fan and a single-piece carbon-fiber drive shaft. The new shaft is lighter and stronger than past Mustangs, cutting frictional losses.
This is only the beginning of what the new 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will offer to drivers. Come by car dealership Causeway Lincoln, where you will be getting a blue ton of horsepower for less than $60,000.
