In preparation for the New York City Triathlon on Sunday, July 8, Chelsea Piers Sports Center Health Club is now offering a simulation of the bike portion of the race on our indoor CompuTrainers.
The CompuTrainers simulate the actual course indoors, including elevation & resistance. Cyclists bring in their own bikes, set them up on the CompuTrainers, and ride the course as they would if they were outdoors on the road. The advantage of the CompuTrainer is that it monitors your entire performance so that you can keep track of your speed, heart rate, and wattage to help you pace yourself and plan an effective race-day strategy.
Private training sessions, group rides, prep rides and clinics, and team rentals will be available. Here are the classes that can help you practice effective training:
One-on-one session with an experienced and certified trainer, including an analysis of how efficiently you pedal while riding the course.
Ride and compete against other riders on the course – see how you stack up against the competition.
Prep Ride & Clinic:
3-hour clinic focusing on the course & transition skills. Includes a run on the 1/4 mile indoor track.
2-hour course ride for up to 8 riders – scheduling is flexible for team convenience.
The Sports Center is the ideal place to train for the NYC Triathlon. With a USAT-certified Training Center, the center offers comprehensive triathlon training programs for every level of athlete, from novice to expert, by offering a variety of levels, instructional forums, and individualized programming. Athletes are encouraged to pursue and attain their individual goals.
