Brain Training for ADHD Teens & Young Children at LearningRx

It can be a terrifying concept for a parent when they realize their child may not be able to fully take care of themselves on their own. This could range from simple everyday tasks we take for granted like tying your shoes and brushing your teeth to more complex – and possibly dangerous – concepts like learning how to drive a car or finding your way around New York City via subway. For many people coping with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) taking direction can be a challenge.

While ADHD is a struggle for those individuals suffering from it, it can also be hard for parents to deal with. However, at LearningRx teenagers, young children and parents can use the multi-skill Brain Training program to restore the cognitive foundation that is lacking for those individuals.

There are many cognitive conditions that can affect driving or even navigating a NYC subway system. A 2007 study from the Medical University of South Carolina found that individuals learning how to drive with ADHD are two to four times as likely to get into an accident as those without the condition. While it is a struggle for them, it is possible for teenagers with ADHD to become good drivers, once they improve their attention skills. Brain training from LearningRx focuses on this concept, providing incentives and motivation when clients focus their attention solely on the task at hand.

It isn't uncommon for young children in NYC to learn how to navigate the subway system on their own. However, when they are coping with ADHD taking direction becomes a major challenge. They also tend to have difficulty staying focused which can lead to difficulty with getting off at the correct stop or remembering which train to take. Besides the symptoms of distractibility, ADHD can also cause conditions of impulsiveness, leading a child to make a rash and potentially dangerous decision.

Medication is generally thought of as the only option for treating ADHD, but there are great advantages in learning and adjusting your behavior on your own. Brain training can yield great results with or without medication.

Once a client has progressed in their training it is still important for parents to take the necessary precautions. Together with LearningRx, parents can learn the methods to help their child with ADHD as they learn and grow on their own at the same time and prepare for life's challenges like learning to drive or exploring the world alone. Brain training at LearningRx is available for clients of all ages.
