Break Dance Classes for Kids at University Settlement, HSC

The Houston Street Center, University Settlement is bringing in the summer with a new break dancing class for kids. Making Moves is an 8-week session of classes designed to teach children ages 8 to12-years-old how to break dance, and featuring toprock, footwork freezes, power moves, spins, back bridges and kickups. Students will be able to gain confidence through a number of rhythmic movements with this dance style.

Children will be able to learn the art of breaking from talented B-boy Zachary Cruz. As a dancing visionary, Zachary was raised on the Lower East Side, where he started off as an underground B-boy and continued his training at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts. He then went on to study ballet, modern dance and jazz at Performing Arts and the Abrons Arts Center. Embarking on a professional dance career, Zachary has also worked with the Company of Dance Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey, and with the Urban Ballet Theater.

The Houston Street Center is the best place to engage in fun dance classes that build the perfect foundation for confidence and athleticism. Spark your children's creativity and interest by learning how to break. Whether your child is a novice or has previous experience dancing, these footwork exercises and basic dance techniques are fun for everyone!
