Brunch All Day, Free Mimosa at Beans and Vines

The competition for best brunch and the most comforting Sunday afternoon is high in this hungry city. While the top restaurants pack out quicker than the 4 train during rush hour, a tiny restaurant nestled along the sidewalk of Inwood boasts the type of charm the trendiest spots are lacking. Beans and Vines holds an attraction of home-sweet-home charisma, luring brunchers in with the pleasant ambiance and seductive scents.

The cuisine served daily meets the standards of a five-star-worthy bistro and the brunch menu is nothing shy of perfection -- all in the setting of a cozy cafe. Passersby linger on the café’s side of the street as the aroma of freshly brewed lattes, coffees, teas and other tasty beverages entice them through the doors. While the coffee shop ploy gets the guests through the door, the scents of brunch sit them down and enchant their taste buds.

Offering classic American food brunch options, Beans and Vines’ brunch menu makes it hard to choose just one. At the owner and chef’s recommendation, try the incredible Huevos Rancheros Alex Style (pictured above). The dish features filetto di pomodoro tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, ham and smoked Mozzarella. Served with flour tortillas, salad and the signature Yuca Fries or when available, round russet potatoes. One bite of the semi-spicy dish leaves taste buds longing for another flavor of zest.

And right from mama’s kitchen, the almost-too-pretty-to-eat, tender and perfectly prepared French toast. Layered in a delicate setting of scattered blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries (all purchased fresh like all of the restaurant’s ingredients) fluffed with powdered sugar, and drizzled with maple syrup and a dollop of homemade whipped cream, this dish screams home cooking.

Eaters can enjoy other classic brunch dishes like the pancakes, the Beans and Vines Special Eggs with black forest ham, veggies, and goat cheese served with home fried potatoes and whole wheat toast, or the spinach and cheese omelet. All dishes are reasonably priced and best of all served all day. Appeasing Inwood’s late afternoon stirrers, this cozy restaurant serves brunch until 6 p.m. on Sundays.
