Ghost Tours: Meet Edgar Allen Poe & His Haunted Neighbors
From the disturbing tale of murderous guilt in "The Tell-Tale Heart," to the gothic romance poem "Annabel Lee," the dark words of the famous Edgar Allen Poe serve to haunt readers decades later, hinting at the shadowy details of his life on earth.
Driven to a tragic death by the loss of his beloved wife (and a series of alcoholic tendencies), Poe lives on through his words and, allegedly, his various haunts in New York City.
Edgar Allen Poe & His Ghostly Neighbors of Greenwich Village Ghost Tour:
August 18th – 9:30 PM
August 24th – 7:30 PM
Ghost of New York Tours will take you on a phantasmal ghost tour around Greenwich Village in the search of the ghosts of the New York University Library and the area surrounding historic Washington Square Park. The spirit of Edgar Allen Poe, as well as Aaron Burr, the First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and her beloved dog Fala, are reported to call this area their spectral home. There is little wonder that so many ghosts frequent the area; Washington Square Park is considered a serious ghost central, among one of the most eerie and haunted areas in America!
To have a lasting memory of the haunting experience, have Ghost of New York Tours record an exciting video account of the tour. The talented Omar M’sai will capture the whole tour on video for individuals or tourist groups, so be sure to inquire for a video memory, available by individual or group rate.
This tour, led by Dr. Phil’s ghost experts, is 90 minutes in duration and spans less than a mile in length, with each ghost site becoming entirely handicap accessible.
Meeting Point: This tour departs across the street from Fire Patrol Station No. 2, 85 West Third Street, one block south of Washington Square Park between Thompson and Sullivan Streets, in Manhattan.
