Give Blood for Hurricane Sandy at University Settlement
In the wake of the terrible storm and its aftermath, Hurricane Sandy has devastated many areas in New York and New Jersey. In addition to this, one of the many problems caused by Hurricane Sandy is the lack of blood donations.
Here's how you can help!
Come to The Houston Street Center, University Settlement and attend their first ever Blood Drive on Friday, November 30 from 2-7 p.m.
The Blood Drive will take place in Classrooms 2 and 3.
Why Should I Donate Blood?
It is not every day that you are given the chance to save a life! Blood cannot be manufactured in large quantities, so instead it comes from generous donors like you!
In fact, less than 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to give blood, and the number of patients who need blood in the U.S. are nearly 5 million a year!
Eligibility - Blood Donors Must:
- Be healthy
- Be at least 17 years old in most states
- Weigh at least 110 lbs. (date strategically planned right after Thanksgiving)
For more information about eligibility requirements, click here.
Now is your chance to help with Hurricane Sandy efforts and become a generous donor, joining a network of those who donate and give back to their community.
RSVP is required, but walk-ins are also welcome.
