The History Behind Christian Comedian Willie Davis
Everyone in the showbiz industry has to start somewhere, and this fact certainly holds to Willie Davis of Willie Davis Ministry of Comedy. As a NYC Christian comedian, Willie Davis has forged a path for comedy that both delights and makes believers reflect upon life as a devout Christian.
Yet before his days as a minister of comedy, Willie Davis performed secular comedy at bustling night clubs and popular music joints such as the Apollo Theatre, sharing the stage with stars such as Kool & The Gang, The Temptations, The Dells, and many others. In 1971, he established his own talent show at Club Baby Grand as the M.C. for The Search For New Talent, and even performed as a comedian on the 5 Stair Steps Show.
These wild nights of comedy performances eventually led to Willie Davis wanting something more in his life. He decided to attend college, and graduated from Brooklyn College in 1975 with a BS degree in Speech and Theater in the Performing Arts. One night when attending service at Redeeming Love Christian Center, Davis felt divinely inspired to lend his comedic skills to a ministry in the name of his Savior Jesus Christ. Although he faced struggles at the start of his career, not being sure if the path of Christian comedy was quite for him, Davis persevered as a leading Christian comedian, finding himself among big name comedians such as those featured on Thou Shalt Laugh.
Today, believers and followers of Jesus who are throwing a party or family reunion look to Willie Davis for family friendly Christian comedy that will touch their hearts and encourage laughter. Laughter is what brings families and friends together despite the miles and differences in life, so book Willie Davis Ministry of Comedy for your next special occasion or church meeting.
