Magic Slim and the Tear Drops at Terra Blues, 8/16
After celebrating their 22nd Anniversary, Terra Blues is proud to welcome back "the greatest living proponent of the intense, electrified, Mississippi-to-Chicago blues." (BLUES, JAZZ and FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY) Magic Slim and the Teardrops are set to bring the stage to life with a special performance at Terra Blues on Thursday, August 16th at 10:30 p.m.
Magic Slim is one of the oldest and most well respected blues men of this era. According to DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE, "Magic Slim (Morris Holt) and his gang of three are the premier Chicago blues band on the road and in the recording studio today."
A Mississippi native, Magic Slim controls the audience in a way that only the bluesmen of yesterday learned how to do. They just don't make live performers like this anymore. His group consists of guitarist/vocalist Jon McDonald, bass player Andre Howard, and drummers Brian Jones and David Sims.The show will consist of three 60-minute sets until 2:30 a.m. One ticket will grant you access to stay the entire evening. Get to Terra Blues at 7:30 to experience of opening solo performer Jr. Mack Acoustic.
Born in New Jersey, Junior Mack Acoustic is a self-taught guitarist who began playing at the tender age of nine. Since then, Jr. Mack has captivated his audiences with a style all his own, occassionally collaborating with legendary names such as The Allman Brothers Band and Robert Randolph. His soulful performances and interpretation of the blues sound is unlike any other and never fails to entertain.
