Summer is full of good times and great fun for children. For those who are musically inclined, the Florentine School of Music, Arts, & Academics is now offering an exciting musical summer camp in NYC.
The Florentine Summer String Camp is an intensive program focusing on technique improvement and collaborative performance skills. The Florentine School welcomes beginners as well as seasoned players, ages 6-18, for an exciting summer camp of musical performance in NYC.All pianists are also welcome to join the Florentine School's chamber groups. The schedule includes seven Saturdays of practice from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until August 20. A full-week finale will also take place from August 22-26. The schedule at the Florentine School includes private lessons as well as theory and sight-singing classes. Students will also be able to take advantage of technique workshops, master classes, and chamber music and orchestra rehearsals.
Technique workshops: Each weekly session will focus on a different technique: bow grip; spiccato; sound production, etc.Master classes: Students will perform before an audience of their peers and receive coaching. Chamber music: Students will play along with coaches and classmates in duos, piano trios, or string quartets. Orchestra rehearsals: Sectionals and rehearsals for the Downtown Youth Orchestra Students will also be able to participate in a concert finale, which will feature solo works from lessons, chamber music, and orchestral repertoire. The film series, which will be hosted by the Florentine School's faculty, will present clips of historical, virtuosic recordings by Heifetz, DuPre, Piatigorsky, and von Karajan. A group discussion about the performers and pieces will then follow. The expertly trained faculty at the Florentine School is made up of committed teachers and string coaches, including graduates of Juilliard, Princeton, and the Manhattan School of Music.
