NYC Artist Shares His Story for One Life Photography Contest

“Beauty can be seen in all things. Seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph.” – Matt Hardy

Every artist knows how intricately a photograph can tell a story. For each viewer, this story can be different, but for the artist alone, this story is deep and meaningful. Expressing his life journey through his artwork, artist Michael Adam Alpert is bringing his stories to the public in the One Life Photography competition.

This is the third year of this competition from Artists Wanted that awards over $75,000 in cash grants, publicity, and awards. This year, One Life is looking for the photography that illuminates the audience’s perspective and the community. Artists are encouraged to submit images that they love and that reflect their experiences of the world around them.

There are many awards up for grabs during the competition, including The Story Award, which encourages photographs that tell a great story. For viewers, there is nothing more rewarding than losing yourself in a life-changing story through photographs. For artist Michael Adam Alpert, that story took a turn this year, experiencing the loss of a beloved pet and friend and the struggles of being a single father.

This year, Alpert has learned one of the many lessons in life: that at times you just need to say goodbye. While holding onto memories is worthwhile, holding onto the things you cannot change can be a waste of time. Time spent living in the past is no comparison to time spent being with your loved ones in the present. If there is one thing you can’t change in life, it is time. For this artist, time will now be surrounded with as much joy as possible and exploration of his artwork.
