Dr. Seuss's classic tales have warmed the hearts of many generations for years. The irresistably humorous characters he created are great fun to read and even better to imagine. Now you can experience the magic of storytelling in New York City with Seussical the Musical, an Amas performance by The Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy.
Seussical is the Broadway hit that features some of the most favorite tales from the pen of Dr. Seuss. The musical will run beginning this Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 13. There will be eight performances on Fridays (7:30pm), Saturdays (3pm and 7:30pm) and Sundays (3pm). Seussical will be performed at the Laba Theatre at the 14th Street Y, located 352 East 14 Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenues).
Bringing to life theatrical characters and wondrous tales of the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant and the Grinch, Seussical is a must-see performance. It calls upon creativity and passion while stirring up fond childhood memories filled with singing and dancing! This is a great family show with entertainment for children and adults.
Seussical is written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the award-winning creators of the Broadway smash hits Ragtime and Once On This Island.
As part of Amas’ eclectic and multicultural engagement in theater, The Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy is an October-through-May, pre-professional training program for New York’s under-served young people between the ages of 14 and 20. The academy offers a great opportunity for students who are interested in theatre performance skills to receive training in acting, dance and singing. Students will also be able to learn the business of theatre from established theatre arts professionals in NYC. Classes and rehearsals at the academy are held on Saturdays during the school year, adding Sundays in March and April as they prepare for their annual Off-Off-Broadway production.
So round up your friends and family! Come see Dr. Seuss's tales come to life in Seussical the Musical!
