The Power of a Well-Dressed Man

There is no power greater over a woman than a sharply dressed man. With chic clothes and a buoyant attitude, a man can swoon a woman with just one glance. And yet, most men are unaware of these fashionably mesmerizing powers and fail to put the effort in dressing themselves to fit the character of a stylish, well-kept and trend-conscious fella. While most of my clients are female fashionistas, a mannish few have snuck their way into the bunch and not one leaves without my words of wisdom, or better yet the do's and don’ts of male apparel.  

Men often whine that staying “in style” is too much work, and while I agree that it can be, I do not believe that it has to be. By following these step-by-step instructions for how to dress, men can embrace the power of looking sharp and chic. Listen up lads - adopt a few basic pieces into your wardrobe, and I promise you the ladies will take notice. 

One main piece that every man should possess is pretty simple – a neatly fitted button up. I 

stress the first part of that description, as the fit is key in the look of a button up. Tailoring should be a religion to any man who attempts to don a smarter style. When a woman lays eyes on a man in a pressed and tailored button up with slacks or jeans, she will go weak at the knees. Men, be sure to rock this style in a popping color this spring (i.e. a perky pink) to best embrace modern trends. For a more relaxed look, don’t tuck the shirt into your slacks. You should avoid this style in pronounced patterns, as the crisp, cleaner look is softer on the eye.

For a more relaxed attire, turn to the classic collared polo shirt. Ralph Lauren’s Classic-Fit Mercerized Polo in an active blue color is the perfect staple for any summer look. Pair with tailored white slacks or perfectly fitting jeans and be the stud this season.

And to pair with your button up and polo shirts, invest in a pair of cargo shorts. In basic colors, men’s cargo shorts can be the most essential component to your wardrobe. Choose a fit that is slimming to your shape and a color that is neutral for repeated wear. Cargo shorts work for not only a casual daytime attire, but for the beach or a casual bar style.

Just as women use their physical powers to capture men’s attention, it is possible for men to turn that power around and use it themselves. Follow my simple fashion rules and release that chic, “lady-killin” stud inside of you.
