There are those children who love playing sports and those that enjoy reading a good book. But for those kids who like learning while having fun, NYChessKids is the place to be this summer. For a one-of-a-kind chess experience children will love, register your child today for the Summer Chess Camp at PS116.
Summer Chess Camp will run from July 2 until August 31 and is open to kids from all schools. The goal behind NYChessKids summer camp is to create an environment where children can learn while having fun. During summer break it is important to still foster education in a way that allows students to be happy all day long!
Summer camp at NYChessKids will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for a full day schedule; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for half day schedule; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for afternoon sessions only. For half day programs students will spend the majority of the day learning the skills about chess and utilizing these techniques. Students that stay the full day will spend the morning playing chess while the afternoon is spent in outdoor exercise. At the end of the day students will take part in a tournament-style game and analysis session with the teachers.
During breaks at Summer Chess Camp students will have the opportunity to watch movies, play video games, play additional chess games or take part in physical exercises in the gym. This is the perfect time for motivated students to take advantage of specialized instruction from a teacher. Each day presents students with new chess lessons, including puzzle solving, multimedia lessons, demonstration boards and analysis sessions.
Registration for NYChessKids Summer Chess Camp is open until June 15, so make sure to register your child today. Drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided.
