Traditional Dining and Authentic Beer at Fraunces Tavern
Steeped in rich tradition and historic significance, Fraunces Tavern is New York City’s oldest building and tavern, serving food and drinks since the country was founded. Guests can visit the same booth in which George Washington sat, and experience a truly unique perspective on history while enjoying a wide selection of beers.
Fraunces Tavern was recently renovated and reopened by Ireland’s award-winning Porterhouse Brewing Company, adding a modern sophistication to serving and brewing beer. Fraunces Tavern serves the plain porter, officially crowned “The Best Stout in the World." Blending a meld of pale malt, flaked barley, roast barley, and galena hops creates a deeply aromatic and velvety taste.
Fraunces Tavern also offers the Porterhouse Red, a superior traditional red ale. This beer, brewed with pale, wheat, and chocolate malt, as well as Galena hops, creates a creamy, fruit-filled taste with subtle caramel notes. In addition, Fraunces Tavern offers the An Brain Blasta, a deep copper ale. This fulsome beer has a longer fermentation time and thrice the hops, which produces a complex and soft bitterness.
In addition to its beer and whiskey menu, Fraunces Tavern offers guests a unique dining experience. The Tallmadage Room is a standing replica of a traditional colonial hall. Wide wood planks lay across the floor, leading to a blazing fire place. Long wooden tables with pews radiate a historic presence.
Fraunces Tavern offers both traditional and classical tavern services with a fusion of historic significance and prowess. Come down to the Financial District to take ina little history while you taste the best bar food in NYC.
