The Times Square Alliance and Chashama are pairing with Artists Wanted in sponsoring the Art Takes Times Square competition being held in New York City. Among the awards for the artists participating is a public display of their artwork on the giant video billboards of twelve 23-story buildings in Times Square, seen by over half a million people.
Participating in the competition is artist Michael Adam Alpert, bringing his inspiring and personal artwork to New York City.
Public voting is now open! While technically the competition requires the artist portfolio to be collected at least 77 times to receive a showing at the after-party, Alpert has been personally invited to feature his works of art. The artist must also have his portfolio collected seven times to be put into the public voting system.
The winner of the grand prize will be selected from the top 200 most collected artists, along with twelve runners up. While the main display in Times Square will go to the winner, the runners up will have the opportunity to feature their art on the video billboards. The winner will receive $10,000, along with their art displayed and photographed for the Art Take Times Square book. The artist who wins will also be featured and promoted online.
The competition will feature all varieties of art from paintings, to digital artists, sculptors and photographers. Artist Michael Adam Alpert is proud to be showcasing many of his new pieces. His innovative work is truly groundbreaking, experimenting with new textures and finishes. Traditional Art and how it is seen, has been redefined in his artwork as he makes it a point to pay close attention to capturing the emotion in every piece he creates, while using the computer as a new tool like a paintbrush or a pencil.
The after party following the show will be hosted by Questlove of the Roots, along with hundreds of artists featuring their work.
