As artist Michael Adam Alpert would say, “An artist is a terrible thing to waste.”
New York City also believes in the importance of quality artwork, which is why the Times Square Alliance and Chashama are teaming up with Artists Wanted to sponsor the Art Takes Times Square competition. For this competition, Michael Adam Alpert is bringing his intriguing work to the crossroads of the world, Times Square.
Voting has officially begun for the competition and each artist needs at least 77 votes to qualify. Visit the Artist Wanted site to vote and click on the "Collect Me" link on the top of the page for Michael Adam Alpert.
The competition includes 200 artists, with artwork from paintings, digital media, sculptors, and photographers. One grand-prize winner will be selected along with twelve runners-up. The winner of the competition will have their artwork featured on giant video billboards of twelve 23-story buildings in Times Square to be seen by over half-a-million people. Along with this coveted award, the winner will receive $10,000 and have their art displayed and photographed for the Art Takes Times Square book. Their art will also be promoted online.
An up-and-coming artist, Michael Adam Alpert will be presenting many of his new pieces for the competition. His inspirational artwork is breaking the mold as he experiments with new textures and finishes, changing the way traditional art is seen. The emotion showcased through his attention to detail defines every piece of art he creates, and he embraces new technology by using the computer as a new tool, just like a paintbrush or pencil.
