Women's Sneakers, Sunglasses and Other Travel Essentials
The opportunities for us to partake in exciting endeavors throughout summer make this season without a doubt the most adored. Each weekend is filled with a road trip here, a plane ride there and much-needed hours of laziness and sun soaking. While some trips are planned ahead of time with many minutes to prepare, others pop up as impulsive adventures with little time to prepare. And so I present to you a piece I like to call, “Every Girl’s Last-Minute Survival-Weekend-Getaway-Checklist.”
While the name is a quite extensive, the list is pretty brief. After picking up the basic toiletries and hygiene-essential products like a travel-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, mini bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner, and perhaps a package of disposable razors and a mini bottle of shaving cream, narrow down which products you will need for daily prep. As always a moisturizer for the face and the body, as well as a hairbrush and the basic wardrobe pieces should be at the top of the list. Once the basic bring-alongs are accounted for, be sure to gather the four items that will make your trip all the more comfortable.
1. Frolic in footwear for any destination.
Whether you’re traipsing off to the lake for a weekend getaway, or lathering up for a stint of sunbathing on the beach, a fashionable pair of women’s sneakers is always a good idea. Lace them up for a lengthy hike through nature, or squeeze in a quick morning run aside the crashing waves. Sneakers are comfortable, secure and now thanks to brands like Nike and Lacoste, fashionable. They are perfect to stuff into a duffle bag or during your travels. May I suggest slip on sneakers while passing through airport security for a comfortable and casual wear?
2. See the world through rose-colored lenses.
Sunglasses not only come in handy when shading out the intensely bright sun, but when rushing through a busy airport on a makeup less-morning. No trip is ever complete without a stylish pair of shades, perfect for your face and taking you to the next level of fashion-forward.
3. Leave the bad hair days behind.
Let’s be honest—summer is the harshest season on the hair. Not only does it have to withstand the blistering heat and overbearing humidity, but encounters with water, sand, dirt, smoke, rain and sunshine can leave the hair a bit tussled. For all of your summer ventures, be sure to bring a frizz ease product that will work with any type of hair. Since you may not have the time to do it up as the finest salons do, turn to a product like Fekkai’s Smooth Sailing Anti-Frizz Cream to maintain your mane. The small bottle is easy to slip in any piece of luggage and will keep you free from curling irons, straighteners and hair dryers.
4. A tote for trekking.
Lastly, for all the items that you will need to easily access (i.e. a wallet, gum., lip gloss, cell phone) select a oversized beach tote. If your endpoint is indeed a beach, then the tote will come in all the more convenient. Totes can serve as carry-ons for flights, and a snack-iPod-water carrier for long car trips.
Summer trips are made easy when preparation is kept simple. Follow this weekend checklist and never run to Rite Aid for forgotten goods again.
Bon Voyage Fashionistas!
