Young Musicians Courses with Florentine School of Music
Children love the sound of music. Whether the rhythm causes them to nod their heads or the tempo provokes them to sway to the left and right, music is a big part of their lives. It also helps them to actively comprehend more about the world around them. So why not help them to turn that love into skills they can use for a lifetime?
The Florentine School of Music, Art & Academics is founded on the belief that every child loves music. With the Young Musicians Course for children ages 6 to 8, children will be able to participate in activities that teach basic musical skills and encourage independence, creativity and self-expression. During the three-year program, your child will also explore and discover new things as it relates to their imagination, which will become an integral part of your child's growth.
For beginning musicians, the Florentine School of Music's Young Musicians Course will feature class activities including ear training, solfege, keyboard repertoire, keyboard harmony, music theory, exposure to arranging, singing, ensemble playing and improvisation. Classes are specifically designed for 8 to 10 students. Students will be an active part of one 55-minute class per week for two years, which will help their training for advanced level courses during their final year. Musicianship is taught through the use of a keyboard.
To enroll in the Young Musicians Course, children must have reached their sixth birthday by February 15th for the spring semester start. This requirement helps ensure that children are enrolled in a course for which they are developmentally ready.
Upon completion of the Young Musicians Course, he or she can take the Yamaha Student Grade 9 Exam to confirm his or her musical achievement. Teachers will also refer to the exam results to correctly place students in advanced courses of study such as the Junior Advanced Course. As the children develop more advanced musical skills, they are encouraged to express themselves by performing and composing their own music through programs like the Junior Original Concert. In this way, the Young Musicians Course at the Florentine School of Music, Art & Academics is an excellent stepping stone to greater musical expression and aptitude.
